This weekend is Father’s Day and the first day of Summer! To celebrate both occasions, we like to have a feast for the family in our backyard. While we always serve the traditional steak and burgers, the dish that shines the most is the roasted lobsters with cajun butter sauce and garlic noodles. It’s an impressive, but quick and easy dish to make and is always a big hit among both adults and kids.
The lobsters are drenched in a tasty cajun butter sauce made with butter, garlic, onions, seasonings, and herbs. This sauce comes together in less than 10 minutes and it makes the lobsters so finger-licking good. It’s my go-to sauce for seafood and also works great with dungeness crab, king crab legs, blue crabs, and stone crabs.
Some fishmongers will steam your lobsters for you, but you can also do it yourself at home. I recommend steaming lobster for 7 minutes for the first pound and another 2 minutes for each additional pound. They’ll be slightly under-cooked, which is perfect for this recipe because it will keep them juicy and tender before roasting. After removing the lobsters from the water, I cover them with my flavorful Cajun butter sauce and give them a quick roast in the oven to deepen the flavor.
I always pair these lobsters with savory garlic noodles. It’s a simple and quick dish, and packed with flavor. I use dried spaghetti noodles, but any pasta or noodle will do. Even if you’re not making lobsters, this makes a beautiful side dish to any meal.
Both dishes can easily be doubled and are great for entertaining guests. It’s the perfect meal for Father’s Day or any special occasion!
