Instagram Worthy Flower Fields // Philly Travel Guide

Peony season is in full bloom at the Styer’s Peony Festival. On me is a pink draped sleeve mini tea dress, sz 4.

I love when the flowers begin to bloom in spring.  They brighten up a space, smell wonderful, and put me in a good mood!  I dream of traveling the world to see the lovely purple lavender fields in Provence, France and the iconic tulip fields in Holland. Until then, I’ll happily admire the local beauty.

After doing some research, I discovered so many stunning flower fields around Philadelphia to visit.  From spring through fall, you can find everything from tulips, peonies, lavenders, and sunflowers.  These fields feature acres of seasonal flowers and have a variety of ways to enjoy them – viewings, walk-throughs, drive-thrus, and picking your own bouquets.  I love how enchanting and whimsical it feels to be immersed in a sea of color and beauty.   Some locations even host festivals, food, music, and set up Instagram-worthy props to make it a fun event for the whole family.

Tulip season is in full swing at the tulip fields at Dalton Farms.
It’s always a fun time in the sunflower field at Happy Day Farms, with fun props like this yellow door.

Each of the locations below are within two hours of Philadelphia and availability varies with the weather and season.

Tips: Bring a tripod or photographer to capture you and the family in these beautiful scenic moments.  Also, consider bringing a blanket for some sitting pictures. If you want to pick your own flowers, bring a cute basket or bucket for aesthetics.

Tulip Flower Fields

Tulips mark the beginning of spring for me because they’re one of the first flowers to bloom.  I remember my mom used to plant them outside our house and I loved plucking them to decorate them in a vase in our house.  It’s magical to see hundreds of thousands of them lined up neatly in what looks like endless rows.

When

Spring, mid to end of April

Where to Visit

Dalton Farms

660 Oak Grove Rd, Swedesboro, NJ 08085

Walk through 15 acres of colorful tulips, separated into three fields.  Lots of stunning photo opportunities and fun props for pictures like a swing, lighthouse, and butterfly mural.  You can hand-pick tulips, then wrap and bag them for $1 per bloom.  On the weekends they host food trucks.  $15 to enter, reservations required.

Holland Ridge Farms

86 Rues Rd, Cream Ridge, NJ 08514

This farm boasts millions of colorful, unique tulips that are available for exploring and picking every spring season.  They have photo prop installations throughout the field — my favorite is the stationed bike.  Tulips can be picked for $1 per bloom.  They provide a bucket, but unfortunately, they don’t have handles.  On the weekends they have pony rides, a free petting zoo, food trucks, and a bakery barn.  They have lots of benches for sitting and eating.  $15 to enter, reservations required.

Peony Flower Fields

Peonies are big, fluffy, fragrant flowers with lush foliage that are outrageously beautiful and bloom in the summer.  They come in a wide range of colors and sizes and represent romance, good luck, compassion, prosperity, and a blissful marriage.  They’re beautiful in a bouquet and a gorgeous addition to any floral arrangement.
