Galactic Space Themed Party // Out-of-this-World Birthday Celebration

Decorating for my kids’ birthdays is my favorite // Silver wrap front knot dress, sz 2

Just last week, my little boy turned 3!  To celebrate his birthday, we threw him an out-of-this-world space themed party.  All of the details and final touches coupled with yummy treats and family, made for some really sweet memories!

Although I kept decorations minimal with a balloon arch, garland, #3 balloon, and rocket ship playhouse, they still had a lot of visual impact and brought the theme to life. I went with a modern and neutral color palette of gray/silver/white for the balloons and garlands, with some pops of color from some 3D honeycomb planets. It was such a quick and easy setup and love how it all turned out. The whole thing took about 3 hours to put together and cost less than $75!

Space Theme Birthday Party Decorations

Balloon Arch Kit – $13.99

Balloon arches look intimidating, but they’re actually very simple and easy to put together! This balloon kit comes with everything you need – 103 balloons in assorted sizes and colors (gray, white, silver), a balloon tying tool, a decorating strip, and points stickers. Blowing up the balloons takes up most of the time, so I highly recommend using an electric balloon pump. They’re definitely worth it (especially if you think you’ll make more than one balloon arch in your lifetime) and they get the job done quickly. To assemble the arch, add air-filled balloons to the decorating strip by inserting the balloon knots into the perforated holes. Once all the balloons are added, use the point stickers to stick the balloon arch to the wall or ceiling.

‘To the Moon’ Garland Set – $21.00

For the center of our wall, we used this garland set. It includes a rocket, two shiny silver foil stars garlands, a “to the moon” garland, and six honeycomb 3D planets. The silver embellishments from the stars, banners, and planet rings matched the theme perfectly and the planets added a nice pop of color to the room. The planets could be hung on the silver string provided, but I choose to tape them against the wall instead.

Rocket Ship Playhouse – $27.00

This served as a prop and a fun playhouse for the kids. This ‘Color Your Own Rocket Ship’ has a functional door with plenty of parts to color in such as a window, an alien, and pretend control panel. The kids were entertained for hours – they loved playing inside and coloring the outside with crayons and markers. It did get a little banged up from the kids running in and out of it, so I highly recommend reinforcing it with some heavy duty tape. It was easy to put together and folds up easily for storage.

#3 Balloon – $3.99

This #3 silver foil balloon is 32”.  You can fill it with air and tape it to the wall or fill it with helium and tie it to a balloon weight.  I also wanted to use this crescent moon balloon, but it didn’t arrive in time.

This space themed birthday party was so fun to create!  I hope it gives you some inspiration for your next party.

Happy 3rd Birthday Haden! We love you to the moon + back!
