Happy New Year! As I step into a new year, I try to declutter not only my mind but my home as well. My closet has always been the messiest room in our house and was determined to refresh the space to be more manageable and organized.
First, I purged my closet of unwanted and unused items by getting rid of all the items that I don’t absolutely love or haven’t worn in the last 2 years. I donated the majority of the clothes I didn’t want and listed the rest on Poshmark.
My closet is an extension of our master walk-in that was created with the space above the garage. The walls of the extension are from the shape of our pointed roof, so they’re short and narrow.
These weave design plastic drawers fit nicely against the wall and are a nice upgrade to plain plastic drawers. I use it to hold jeans, skirts, t-shirts, loungewear, and belts. I love displaying my heels, pumps, and flats on the open space on top for easy access.
These hanging shelves were hanging on the wall from my previous closet room and now I have them standing on the floor. This is a great hack for providing additional hanging space in rooms with low ceilings. I use them to hang all of my dresses, cardigan, and blazers. I found this cute Morrocan inspired rug to add comfort and bring the room together.
This gold metal framed full-length mirror is such a great find for under $100 and these gold hooks are excellent quality and match the mirror nicely.
The wire shelves and racks are part of the original closet and provide a lot of hanging space. I store my jackets, tops, and long dresses here. I use the shelving in the back for my knit tops and sweaters.
My absolute favorite part of my closet is this DIY bag display shelf. This sleek and sturdy shelf beautifully organizes and displays and organizes my bags, purses, and jewelry box. Before, I kept my bags on any available shelf or rack, but now they’re displaying safely and securely together. This entire set up was easy to assemble and only cost $150.
I created this DIY bag display by repurposing a simple white bookcase. It has 3 adjustable shelves and 1 stationary shelf. It was easy to assemble and only took an hour to put together. This three-tiered gold organizer is perfect for my slim purses and clutches. The curved hook on these adjustable handbag stands allows the bags to hang from their handles or straps. It comes in a pack of two, so I put one on the top of the bookcase and one beside the shelf. Lastly, I added stick-on motion sensor lights for an extra glamorous finishing touch.
I hope you enjoyed my closet tour and that it gives you some inspiration for your own closet makeover!
